Brain

Right now he is a brain attached to a body, a body connected to machines, the machines plugged into the building, and the building anchored into the earth.

Strange, it’s as if his mind has fragmented. He seems both awake and in a dreamlike state. The drugs they’re giving him are likely protecting him from the full shock of what has just happened.

It’s been interesting to observe. We played music, and he started singing. I purposely confused the author, and he corrected me. He even wanted to play chess, and laughed when I mispronounced a word in English.

At the same time, he’s having hallucinations, he sees jewels that are alive all around him and asked Lydia to collect them in a paper bag. He also mentioned that two of his friends are already dead but “doing great.”

There’s a lot of nonsense in what he says and at times becomes paranoid, thinking a nurse is trying to hurt him or that we are against him by not letting him get up from bed.

His mind is scattered, and seems to have gone back to his childhood. Today I saw the face of the child I met, same smile, same eyes, his soul shining through.
